SINGAPORE - Maya Gallery is pleased to present The Journey, an art exhibition with a Balinese theme showcasing works by artists from Singapore and Bali on various mediums in watercolour, Chinese ink, acrylic, oil and batik. Artists featured include Sunar Sugiyou (SG), Jeffrey Wandly (SG), I Wayan Sujana Suklu (IN) and Huda Fauzan (IN).

The Journey is a celebration of Maya Gallery’s inaugural artist residency in Bali, which saw many cultural exchanges with Balinese artists, and opportunities to explore old towns and pura or temples and learn traditional ink-making techniques. Having an artist studio amidst amazing views lend a conducive setting to create fresh works of art, many of which will be revealed for the first time during this exhibition.

It was also in Bali, more than a decade ago, that the idea of starting an art gallery began. It was to be a space dedicated to promoting the works of Singaporean artists, whether established, celebrated, underexposed or young local talents. This passion came into fruition when Maya Gallery was launched in Singapore in April 2012 with an opening exhibition of works by local artists, and thus marked a milestone in our journey.

The exhibition runs from 13 September to 3 October 2012.

The gallery opens daily, 12 noon - 6 pm, except public holidays.
