Teo Han Wue is an independent curator, art writer and photographer. He graduated from the University of Malaya with a MA in Chinese Studies in 1971. He taught at the university for two years before moving to Singapore where he worked in a number of positions including one as a Chinese language teacher in the United World College of Southeast Asia for a number of years. In the 1980s he began writing art reviews for The Straits Times, the leading English language daily in Singapore, and went on to become the editor of a features section of the daily covering arts and culture. In the 1990s he became a director at the National Arts Council where his responsibilities included art development, education, research and publication. In 2004 he was appointed as the director of Art Retreat incorporating the Wu Guanzhong Gallery, a private museum featuring a collection of modern Asian art. In this position he gave guided tours to docents and volunteers from various organisations including Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Tourism Board. Over the years he has served in various advisory positions for the National Gallery Singapore, the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University. He has written about art and photography for various publications at home and abroad. In 2020 Teo himself held a one-man photography exhibition which was very well received.
