Jedidiah Angkasa received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from BIOLA University, in La Mirada, California in the fall of 2017. She is currently concentrating on figure studies. Her work addresses the issue of absence in the society of contemporary setting through exploring the tension between the instantaneous nature of photography and the permanence of tactile making of forms and lines.
The two works utilise the fluidity of watercolors as a mean of an asking for. “Come Eat” seeks to question the intergenerational gathering imbedded in family tradition, as depicted here, in a Chinese culture. “Come Take Picture” takes the narrative of individuals’ gathering in a landscape—a coming together for a reason, possibly also that of a tradition. These invitations, regardless of whom they go to, come from a longing for.
