Artist Vu Hoang was born in 1989 and graduated from Vietnam University of Fine Arts. Speaking about his works, he shared that his creative inspiration comes from nothing fancy but the familiar reality around him. He was born and raised in Hanoi and that’s why he’s so used to the pulse of everyday life in the city. Everything he hears, smells and sees on the streets through different senses, everything he feels with different layers of emotions, is translated into his artworks.
Huu Nghi: Singapore & Vietnam 50-10 Exhibition
The works "The Trees #1" and "The Trees #2" employ a realistic style within a surreal space. The author aims to convey a harmonious connection between the two countries through elements of architecture, depictions of everyday life, and imagery of trees considered characteristic of Vietnam (banyan trees, lotus flowers, etc.). Exploring Singapore through the images of artificial trees at "Gardens by the Bay" and the ArtScience Museum, the author was profoundly impressed and recognized a visual coherence between the two nations. Consequently, these two artworks were conceived within the author's imaginative realm of amalgamated surrealism.
