The Huu Nghi: Singapore & Vietnam 50-10 Exhibition opens at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi. It was officially launched on Saturday, 9 September 2023, by our Guest of Honour, H.E. Mr Jaya Ratnam, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam, to a crowd of more than 150 art enthusiasts, including esteemed ambassadors from other countries, representatives from prominent Vietnamese organisations, sponsors, and artists.
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Singapore and Vietnam, and the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership, the exhibition explores the theme of "Huu Nghi"—friendship in Vietnamese—through an array of works that reflect the histories and cultures of both countries. It is also a recognition of the pluralistic art practices and traditions of both countries including various mediums of painting (oil, acrylic, ink, silk, Vietnamese Do paper and batik), photography, ceramics, sculpture, installation and interactive media.
Close to 40 artworks by 14 Artists from Vietnam and Singapore are on display. The artists are Jeffrey Wandly, Dominic Thian, Pham Thuy Tien, Cao Thuc, Duong Manh Quyet, Au Dinh Kien, Ruslan Vu, Masturah Sha’ari, P.Gnana, Ha Chau Bao Nhi, Terence Tan, Vu Hoang, Hiroko Mita, Nguyen Hoang Dung.
