Budi Achmad has been painting since young, capturing the environment around him such as fruits, figures and sceneries. A self-taught artist, Budi started drawing with the other children his age in the village. He was then guided by Bapak Gatot, a reknowned sculptor and artist who paints on banana leaves. A trip to Jakarta in 1999 saw Budi meeting up with other artists such as Myjend Syaukat Banjaran Sari, who was a member of the Indonesia5 artist collective. His works have been shown in various exhibitions in Indonesia.
