Inspired by the beauty and harmony of the land, sea and sky of his hometown, Balinese artist Wayan Gede Susana expresses emotions of peace and tranquility in his abstract paintings. Maya Gallery is pleased to present Susana\'s debut solo exhibition in Singapore. Entitled Infinite Beauty, the exhibition will feature abstract paintings using acrylic on canvas. Infinite Beauty traces Wayan Gede Susana’s artistic and spiritual journey. Most of the works in the exhibition are inspired by the beauty of the island paradise of Bali, where the artist was born and grew up. Expressing this love for his hometown on the canvas, he often breaks out in energetic warm hues of red and gold, and in some works winding down in layers of white. Using acrylic paint in deep layers that has come to signify Susana’s work, one can sense a touch of Russian-American painter abstract Mark Rothko’s colour explorations, but mixed with subtlety and undeniable serenity.
Susana has exhibited in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. Widely accepted as attractive accents and suitable interior elements by interior designers, architects and collectors, his paintings have adorned the walls of various hotel establishments such as Novotel Kuala Lumpur and luxury homes in Tropicana Indah Resort and Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They can also be found in private collections in Asia, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and many other European countries, as well as in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

I WAYAN GEDE SUSANA (b. 1967, Mas, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia) learned to paint when he was still a child. The village of Mas is known for its carvings, and learning of art is common for the young. At the age of 15, he discovered, and had an inclination towards, contemporary art. With the support from his parents and family, he turned his childhood hobby of drawing into painting and learning more about art. Upon graduating from high school, Susana channelled his talent and drive to develop his painting skills at home, and painted at every opportunity. He eventually studied Art in the Architecture Department at the Udayana University in Denpasar, Bali, where he deepened his knowledge and mastery in terms of colour, composition, texture and line.
