A Glance: The Singapore-Vietnam Art Exhibition

November 26, 2018 - November 29, 2018

A GLANCE: The Vietnam–Singapore Art Exhibition was officially opened on 26 Nov 2018 at The Arts House at The Old Parliament. Featuring artworks by Pham Luan (Vietnam) and Jeffrey Wandly (Singapore), the showcase was organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore and Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association (VSFA). Held from November 26–29 2018, this is the second art exhibition to commemorate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore; the first was held at the Hanoi Cultural Centre in Hanoi, Vietnam in May, with the same artists.

We would like to thank all who attended the Opening and took time to visit the exhibition over the 4 days. We are also grateful to all who were involved, and helped out in the show.

In 2018, our countries – Viet Nam and Singapore celebrate their 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties. We are witnessing a golden era in our bilateral relationship. Viet Nam and Singapore are natural partners who are closely linked with each other by cultural similarities, geographical proximity, and similar regional and international benefits. What we have today comes from sincerity, trust, mutual understanding, and a shared vision for the ASEAN Community.

Apart from the reliable political relationship and deep linkages in economics, trade, and investment, the co-operation in education-training, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchange has also been flourishing. Tens of thousand Vietnamese people live and work in Singapore, and many Singaporean people are also living and working in Vietnam. They are the bridge that helps boost understanding between people of both nations. To this end, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Singapore and the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association jointly organise the Art Exhibition, introducing artwork by Vietnamese artist Mr. Pham Luan and Singaporean artist Mr. Jeffrey Wandly. Their showcase was successfully presented in Ha Noi, Viet Nam last summer.

This Exhibition is part and parcel of series of activities to be carried out by the two nations, marking a special year for Viet Nam – Singapore relationship. Looking back at all the achievements over the past 45 years, we do believe that the prospects of the Viet Nam-Singapore relationship are quite bright within the shared ASEAN Community, benefitting the people of both nations, and furthering peace, cooperation, and prosperous development in the region.

Hopefully, this showcase of artwork in Singapore is also a success story in the promotion of friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Mr Vu Viet Ngoan
President
Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association
