Artist's Statement

On Sentience series
My new series of paintings entitled SENTIENCE portrays the meaning behind the word ‘Sentience’ which conceptually used to distinguish the ability to think from ability to feel. It is metaphysical quality of all things that requires respect and care which I focus here on animal rights and animals that are on the verge of extinction due to the negligence of human selfishness.

On Flowers series
"I am completely captivated by nature, and the flower is the main subject that I would explore. I like to paint the flower big enough for everyone to see the essential part it with all its depth of colour and unique forms. Every flower has a meaning to it. I value the process rather than the end product.  Applying colours in layering effect and taking note of the depth and shadow carefully without losing the important essence of the flower. In Victorian times, certain flowers had specific meanings because the flower selection was limited and people used more symbols and gestures to communicate than words. I weaved myself painting the floral traditionally with a more contemporary styled background to give it more definitions."
