Rick Farid loves experimenting with the imagination. Blending the existent with ones that are not.  Creating fictitious characters and new elements while trying to capture the unusual vibe or mood one can get at times. The extraordinary Balinese and funky pop culture, producing a contemporary-cultural style, heavily influence his works. Currently experimenting with different techniques and mediums, with the guidance of a few established artists, Rick aspires to grow as an emergent artist in the amazing world of art.

Artist's Statement

I my art, I use the ngaben – or the Balinese funeral ceremony –  as the experience of following a funeral procession in Bali remains vivid in my mind. Though it is a symbol of death, but to me it represents life. The whole ceremony with the long walking journey carries so much tradition and culture. It also reminds me of my loved ones who have left us, yet inspiring me to pursue my dreams.
